Kilbarchan AAC Christmas Handicap Race – Sunday 21 December

Published by kilbarchan Web on

Our annual Christmas Handicap Race returns on Sunday 21 December, starting and finishing on the running track at the ON-X Leisure Centre, Linwood. This is one of the club’s most enjoyable festive traditions, giving every athlete—fast or steady—a chance to compete for the win!

📅 Date: Sunday 21st December
Time: 1:30pm – 2:30pm (Declarations from 1:00pm)
📍 Location: Running Track, ON-X Leisure Centre, Brediland Road, Linwood
🏃 Distance: Handicap race over approx. 4.7 miles
👉 Entry: https://kilbarchan-aac.classforkids.io/camp/312

How the Handicap Works

  • Declarations open in the portakabin at the track from 1:00pm.
  • The first runner starts at 1:30pm, with slower runners heading off first and faster runners chasing later.
  • The first athlete to finish wins the trophy and gets first pick of the gifts.
  • Second finisher picks second, and so on — festive fun and friendly competition all the way!

Gift Exchange

All athletes are asked to bring an unwrapped gift worth £4–£8.
This keeps the tradition going and ensures everyone leaves with something seasonal.

Stewards Needed

We require volunteers to help steward the course.
Some positions require a car, so if you can assist, please let us know — your help makes the event possible!

Times Needed for Handicapping

To help the handicapper set fair start times, please email your recent results to:
📧 mikemcewan@hotmail.co.uk

Please include:

  • 5km season’s best
  • 10km season’s best
  • Half marathon season’s best (if applicable)
  • If returning from injury, you may submit recent times instead — just note which are SBs and which are recent.

We look forward to a great turnout for one of our favourite festive club races!
