Callum Hawkins kick started 2017 where he left off in 2016 with another superb performance on the international stage.
The men’s senior race concluded proceedings on a mild Saturday afternoon underneath Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh’s historic Holyrood Park.
As Jemma Reekie prepares to represent Scotland ‘A’ at Holyrood Park in the Great Edinburgh XC international event this weekend she was in record breaking form last night smashing the Scottish U20 Indoor Record for 3000m with a time of 9.28.19.
The event being held at the Emirates Arena also saw her training partner Laura Muir do similar to Liz McColgan’s 25 year old Senior Indoor 5000m record with a superb 14.49.13.
Other events on the card saw Andrew MacAngus finish 3rd in Heat 4 running 8:57.33 for 3000m.

Hayley Haining showed her female rivals a clean pair of heels with victory at the Nigel Barge 10k (ran every year since 1943), crossing the line in 35:55.
In the men’s race Euan Trout ran very well on his 10k debut to dip under 35 mins with a 34:37 to finish 8th. Fraser Williams ran well on his return racing to finish 21st in 37:21. Ryan Waldron was 48th in a solid 40:38 with Robin Scott 103rd in a very swift 44:53 in the M70 category.
