Kilbarchan Athletic Club had successful day at the West District cross country relay championships at Hamilton last Sunday, with some fine performances

Their team of Elspeth Curran, Chloe Simpson and Kerry MacAngus, won the Women’s title with Elspeth’s 15 minutes 13 seconds, the 2nd fastest of the day over the 4K circuit. The club’s strength in depth was highlighted by their B team of Holly Thompson, Elaine Eadie and Jennifer Rooney, also well to the fore finishing 6th and their over 40s team of Sharon Hastie, Caroline Cochran and Sandra Houldsworth, was 2nd in their category to win Silver.

Kilbarchan also medalled in the Boys race, the trio of Matthew New, Lewis Hannigan and Cameron Wright finishing 2nd behind Giffnock North.  Giffnock also won the girls race with the Kilbarchan team of Evie Livingston, Rachel Muir and Alisha Sivell, a good 4th.

East Kilbride AC won the Mens event with Kilbarchan finishing 9th, team of Graham Evans, Callum Matthews, Josh Hendry and Ewan McKerral.

This coming weekend, on Sunday, the Renfrewshire Cross Country Relay Championships are being staged in Pollok. This Championship covers the historical county area and included Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and part of south Glasgow.
