Reekie becomes Senior 800m Champion
Jemma Reekie turned her attention to the shorter distance to race over 800m (only her second outdoor 800m this season) against some serious senior competition, including defending champion Mhairi Hendry(VP Glasgow).
Jemma drove off the final bend to pass Hendry in the home straight, running 2:08.39 in a gutsy run to take gold.
Kerry MacAngus followed later in the 1500m senior women’s race with a fine 3rd place in 4:31.85.
Also over 1500m, Cameron Wright was 3rd place in the Under 17 men’s race in a time of 4:04.66, with Andrew MacAngus following him home for 4th in 4:05.25 & Michael Simson 6th in 4:06.30.
In the Senior Men’s Hammer Andrew Costello struck Silver with a good opening throw of 53.78m, following on from his U20 gold last weekend at Scotstoun.
Cameron Stark was also in medal form in the hammer, taking bronze at Under 17 level with 42.66m his best on the day.
