There were some fine results for Kilbarchan athletes at the Scottish Senior and under 17s Championships at Grangemouth last weekend.

In the Senior Championships,  Andrew Murphy was 2nd in the Pole Vault clearing 4.41m and 3rd in the Discus with a 40.26m throw just ahead of 4th placed Sam O’Kane 39.34m, while Willie Falconer was 2nd in the Shot with 14.01m. Multi eventer Andrew was also 4th in the 110m Hurdles and 6th in the Hammer competition.

Connor Henderson was 3rd in the 400m Hurdles in 52.75seconds, just ahead of clubmate Martin Lipton (52.81s) and Anthony Young 3rd in the 400m, time 48.01s.

Jemma Reekie finished 2nd in the 1500 metres in 4.26.72 and Ellie Fulton was 3rd in the Javelin with a 39.39m throw. Ellie was also 4th in the 100m Hurdles.

In the younger age groups, the Hammer throwers were outstanding with Andrew Costello the star, winning the under 17 boys event with 52.82m and also a fine effort from Heather Fawcett, 2nd in the under 17 girls competition, with 50.04m. Michael Cairns was 3rd in the under 17 mens 400m Hurdles

This weekend, best wishes to the Hawkins brothers, Derek and Callum who will be representing GB in the Olympic Marathon in Rio and locally, there will be a huge turnout for the Paisley 10K and 3K events as well as continuing age group Championships at Grangemouth.
