Kilbarchan Athletic Club young athletes produced some fine results last weekend.
Laura Stark and Rona Tytler represented Scotland under 17s in the Home Counties International Junior Hill Race in Wales. Laura had an outstanding run to win in 21 minutes 39 seconds and also finished in front of all the under 20 girls who were competing over the same 4.7K course.
Rona also played her part finishing 7th for the under 17s and helping the Scots team of 4 to win Team Gold.
Another of the Club’s young stars, Alisha Sivell competed more locally, was first girl in the 3K race at Cumbernauld., finishing ahead of many older athletes.
Elsewhere, 70 year old Robin Scott finished 57th out of over 200 runners, winning his age category in the Dumfries ½ marathon, time 97 minutes 37 seconds
This Saturday, The George Cummings road Relay will be staged over a 2.7mile circuit around Houston village, starting 2.30pm and a large turnout of athletes from all over Scotland, is expected.
