On Sunday it was the turn of the senior athletes with the 10k starting off the day, just the three Kilbarchan runners in this one
Elspeth Curran was 6th in the women’s race in a time of 36:05, Stuart Kerr 77th overall in 37:37 & Grant Sandilands 151st in 39:55.
Next up was the half marathon with Callum Hawkins looking to defend his title from last year, he lead for the first few miles but as the race headed towards the South side Chris Thompson took hold of the race and opened up a gap. Callum hung on to 2nd for the majority of the second half of the race, closely tracked in behind by Tsegai Twelede who tried to take Callum in a sprint finish but Callum wasn’t to be denied and clinched the Scottish Half Marathon Champion title on the line both clocking 63:18.
Gemma Rankin made her way through the field to take 4th female in the race and Silver in the Scottish Half Marathon Championships, running 76:37.
All eyes were on Glasgow this weekend as athletes of all ages raced on the streets in the junior run, 10k & half marathon, Super Saturday kicked things off with the junior run, family mile & toddler dash.
Kilbarchan athlete David McNair kicked off the weekend in style as he dominated the junior run to romp home in 8:35 with club mate Gavin McKay picking up bronze in 9:09.
Oliver Patton was also 3rd in his age category in a time of 9:53.

The 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon Club entries will open at the end of October, the club is normally allocated two entries, if you would like to be considered, please email Elaine Green at elainec.green@btinternet.com. If there are more than two athletes interested, a ballot will be held.
