The Scottish Primary Schools Cross Country Championships were staged at Kirkcaldy on Saturday and St Columbas School Kilmacolm, had a very successful day, winning 2 individual awards.

Because of the large numbers taking part, each category has to be split, which is done alphabetically on the names of the schools.

In the P6 boys race (L-Z). Jack Patton (St Columbas), was in top form, winning in 5 minutes 52 seconds and the team won Bronze medals. In the P7 girls race (L-Z) , Eilidh Gibson (St Columbas) was a clear winner in 6.04, the team just missing the medals, finishing 4th. There were also top 10 places for Alisha Sivell (Houston PS) 4th .in P7 girls A-K and Niall McLean (St Columbas), 8th P7 boys L-Z

The summer Track and Field season got under way last Sunday, with the first meeting of the Scottish Mens League at Grangemouth with Kilbarchan Athletic Club competing in Division one.

The local club made a solid start to their season, finishing 3rd overall and there were some good individual performances.

Jack Lochans was in fine form, winning the High Jump with a 2.05metres clearance and there was some good sprinting from Shaun Tonner, 2nd in the 100m and in the 200m. There was also a 2nd place for Sam O’Kane in the Discus.
