Euan Gillham from Bridge of Weir, had his best result of the year when he won the National Junior under 17s Road Race title at Riccarton in Edinburgh last Sunday.
Euan took the lead early on, finishing a clear winner, time 15 minutes 35 seconds for the 5200metres distance. With club mates Euan Trout 12th and Ewan McKerral 14th, Kilbarchan took Silver in the team event.
The Kilbarchan under 13 boys team went one better, winning team Gold, led by Scottish Schools Champion Cameron Corrigan in second place, backed up by Andrew MacAngus 5th and Craig Kennedy 7th.
There were Silver medals for the Kilbarchan under 15 girls, with Laura Stark winning individual Bronze, backed up by Rona Tytler 6th and Kerry MacAngus 10th just ahead of Iona Miller 11th and the under 15 boys team of Conor Thomson, Aidan Comerford and Sam McNair were Bronze medal winners.
Also on Sunday, at the Emirates arena, the Scottish Indoor League finals and relays were staged,
Jack Lochans was the star or the show, winning the High Jump with a 2.11m clearance, breaking his own Kilbarchan club record as well as the league record. Jack also attempted the Commonwealth Games standard of 2.17m, just missing out this time.
In the team competition, Kilbarchan under 20 men finished 3rd overall and as well as Jack’s High Jump, there were also wins for Andrew Murphy in the Shot (13.41m) and also the Long Jump (5.91m) while Gavin McArdle won the 800metres (1.58.5) and was 3rd in the 400m.
In the 4x200m relays, Kilbarchan under 20 girls team of Mia Shepherd, Megan Leighton, Victoria Cleer and Fionna Strong were 3rd and other finalists included under 17 girls 5th (Emma Devine, Shona Ross, Erin Campbell, Stephanie Lamb) and the under 13 girls 6th (Rachel Shaw, Kimberley Gilchrist, Emilie Drysdale McEwan and Mackenzie Cunningham).
