Kilbarchan Athletic Club completed their Men’s League programme at Grangemouth at the weekend with some good performances ensuring their Division One status for next year.
Multi eventer Andrew Murphy was in outstanding form, winning the Pole Vault with a 4.00m clearance and also winning the 110m Hurdles in 15.73 seconds and the Discus with 37.81m, also finishing 2nd in the Shot (12.63m). Remi Caudeaux won the Javelin throwing 53.26m while Martin Lipton was 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the 400m. Valuable contributions also in shorter events, from Nishant Puri, Alexander Watters and Michael Cairns and from middle distance athletes David Martin, Conor Thomson and Andrew MacAngus.
Kilbarchan Hammer throwers continue to make the news. At the weekend, at Bedford, Kirsty Costello broke the Scottish under 15 girls 3Kg Hammer record with a throw measured at 53.95m and a few days earlier, Heather Fawcett broke the Kilbarchan club under 17 girls Hammer record with a 52.75m throw.
