A very busy weekend with Scottish Schools Road Races on Saturday and Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships and Kilmarnock open races on Sunday.
St Columbas School Kilmacolm, had a very successful day at Falkirk, winning 2 of the 6 individual races as well as other individual and team awards.
Laura Stark won the over 16s race, time 8 minutes exactly with Iona Miller 2nd and Eilidh Gibson, also St Columbas, won the S1 race in 5.52 while in the under 16 girls race, Leona Murray (Castlehead HS) was 3rd.
For the boys, Andrew MacAngus (Gryffe HS), won the under 16s race in 7.21 and in the S1 boys race, David McNair (Castlehead HS) was 2nd.
The Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships were staged at Bellahouston Park on Sunday where there was a top performance from Euan Gillham to win the under 20s title, ahead of clubmate Gavin McArde, Euan’s time 12.30 for the 4K course. Laura Stark completed a successful weekend by winning the under 17 girls title, time 10.38 to add to her Schools title from the previous day.
At the Kilmarnock Open races, the Kilbarchan club claimed more successes. Ewan McKerral won the under 17 boys race from clubmates Scott McLardie and Aidan Comerford . Cameron Corrigan was 2nd in the under 15 boys race, David McNair 3rd for the under 13 boys and Leona Murray 3rd in the under 13 girls race. Also a good run by Leanne Hamilton for 2nd place in the Senior Womens race.
