Kilbarchan Athletic Club had a good representation at the National Junior Development League meeting at Sheffield last Sunday.
Representing Team Glasgow, there were some fine performances which helped Team Glasgow to win the overall competition on the day.
In the under 17 girls category, there were wins for Jemma Reekie in the 800metres (2.13.81), Laura Stark 1500m (4.43.71), Kerry MacAngus 3000m (11.26.31), Also for the under 17 girls, Emma Kelly was 3rd in the 1500m steeplechase, Victoria Cleer won the Sprint Hurdles B race and the Hammer B event and Erin Campbell won the 300m Hurdles B race.
For the under 20 women, Mia Shepherd won the Hammer (37.02m) and also the Sprint Hurdles B race, Shona Ross was 3rd in the Triple Jump and Niamh Barclay won the B Discus..
For the under 17 men, Ewan McKerral won the 1500m steeplechase (4.50.21) and Euan Trout won the B race as well as 3rd in the 3000m.
The Kilbarchan club also had a team at the 2nd meeting of the Young Athletes League Division One at Kilmarnock last Sunday where the team finished 6th.
Outstanding performer was Rory MacLean in the under 13s boys category, winning the 100m (13.63s), 200m (27.19s) and Shot (7.67m). Other winners included Eilidh Gibson, who topped the Scottish rankings by winning the under 13s girls 800m in 2.26.93s, also Kirsty Costello winning the under 13 girls Javelin with a personal best 22.93m.
Michael Cairns was 2nd in the under 15 boys sprint Hurdles in a PB of 13.30s and Leona Murray 2nd in the under 13 girls 1200m in 4.03.16. Niall McLean was 2nd in the under 13 boys 800m in 2.27.56 and Andrew Costello had three 3rd places in the under 15 boys Shot, Javelin and Discus.
