In some of the most brutal weather the wild side of the West Highland Way showed its colours as gale force winds and heavy rain battered the competitors travelling from Milngavie at 1am on Saturday heading for Fort William that evening or into the early hours of Sunday morning.
With Rob Sinclair arriving 1st home in a new course record of 13 hours 41 mins very few followed that quickly as the weather deteriorated as darkness descended.

Lesley McKerral cut a determined figure as she glided through the checkpoints hoping to add another goblet in the family household with husband Calum already a successful finisher previously.

This was to be Lesley’s longest race by some distance but she duly arrived in Fort William to finish in an impressive 27 hours 23 mins and 24 secs for 100th overall of only 159 finishers (209 started).

Massive congratulations to Lesley and her support team for getting through a truly remarkable challenge.

Sadly John Kynaston had to withdraw at Balmaha with an ankle injury not allowing him to collect a 7th goblet. Best of luck in recovery John.
