2 local girls competed for Scotland in the British Schools International Cross Country International at Bolton last weekend.
Conditions were far from ideal with rain and wind as well as muddy underfoot conditions.
Laura Stark (St Columbas School) was 13th, 2nd Scot, in the 15-17 age group race, time 17 minutes 51 seconds, a fine effort for her first year in the age group and Rona Tytler (Gryffe HS), was 24th, 6th Scot, in the under 15s race and in the counting Scottish team, Both girls were rewarded by winning Silver team medals.
The whole weekend was a great experience for the girls, competing with their Scottish teammates, against the best from England, Ireland and Wales and then socialising with them in the evening.
Elsewhere, ultra man John Kynaston competed in the Hardmoors 55ml race, finishing in 10 hours 10min 24 seconds.
