Kilbarchan AAC TrackStars Mini Olympics Summer Camp
Kilbarchan AAC’s TrackStars programme hosted its Summer Camp from Monday 4th to Friday 8th August, welcoming 32 young athletes for a week packed with athletics, fun, and learning.
Throughout the week, the children tried their hand at a wide variety of events, from sprints and relays to jumps and throws. The camp finished with a Mini Olympics, giving the athletes the chance to put their new skills into practice in a friendly competition full of effort and sportsmanship.
The activities were led by six of the club’s young coaches — Amy Teasdale, Cara Murray, Sophie Hill, Daniel Bruce, Lewis Hannigan and Emily Clark — with valuable support from some of Kilbarchan’s more experienced coaches. To keep everyone fuelled, the club provided packed lunches and water each day, making sure the athletes had the energy to enjoy everything the camp offered.
While the weather wasn’t always on our side — with Monday’s storm sending everyone indoors — the atmosphere stayed positive throughout. The mix of hard work, plenty of fun, and great teamwork made this year’s camp another big success and a real highlight of the summer for Kilbarchan’s young TrackStars.
The club is already planning the next TrackStars camp for the October Renfrewshire school holidays, with more details to be released soon.
