61st Tom Scott Memorial Road Races, (including National 10-mile Championships), Strathclyde Country Park, Sun 30 March 2025

With extremely challenging conditions for the athletes having navigated a howling headwind blowing from the north side of the loch, although in the latter stages of the race the sun appeared to welcome the athletes through the finish.  Congratulations to all who competed with our athletes taking Gold in the team event.

  • Well done to Euan Carrick (V45) who ran in a time of 1:19:06.

  • Kilbarchan ‘s senior men win gold with a superb team effort in a special moment as they repeated their 2014 victory.  Landing the gold medals were Jack Patton, Lewis Hannigan, Robbie Ferguson, Jack Heathwood, Fraser Gilmour and Callum Hawkins. The wining time 2:14.27 to Central’s 2:14.33 with Callum at 28:36 for the long leg last lap, the team dedicated the win in Arthur Smith’s memory.

  • A well done to Matt McGurk who completed the Barcelona marathon in a new PB of 2 hours 46 minutes!

Podium 5k Festival, Leicester, Sat 15 Mar 2025

  • Well done to Lewis Hannigan who ran a new PB of 14:07.79, (net time 14:05.10) in the Elite Male A race.

  • Silver medal for Alistair Street with a PB run, and selection to represent Scotland at this year’s London Mini Marathon, congratulations to all who competed.  In the Teams Competitions U13B 5th, U15G 10th and U17M 5th.

  • A perfect sunny spring day for the first Throws competition of the year with a strong turnout from the Kilbarchan Throws Hammer Team. PBS from under 15 boys (4kg) Harry Muir 35.24m, Alexandros Dimitrolakis 28.70m, Max Fulton 23.53m. Under 15(3kg) girls Megan Cowan 30.82m. Under 13 Boys (3kg) Isonas Dimitrolakis 20.44m, and Under 13 Girls(3kg) Monika Pencheva 16.93m.

Inverness Half Marathon 2025, Inverness, Sun 09 Mar 2025

  • Congratulations to Ewan McKerral 32nd 1:12:34, Euan McCracken 125th new PB 1:21:08, and Robbie Ferguson 128th 1:21:23.

Down-by-the river 10K, Cambuslang, Sun 09 Mar 2025

  • A good run for Ryan Waldron with a time of 39:53.

4J Studios scottishathletics National Indoor Senior/U17 Championships, Sun 09 Mar 2025

  • Congratulations to U17M Alastair Street on winning gold in the 1500m with a time of 3:57:20. There were also golds for U17M Joshua Mungin in the senior men’s 800m 1:49:96 and for Scott Connal in the senior men’s 60 hurdles 08:15.  Fantastic performances, congratulations to these athletes and their coaches
  • A strong performance from Amelie Kerr in the U17 women’s 1500m, running a time of 5:13.77.  Finally, in the senior men’s 1500m, Jack Heathwood made his Kilbarchan debut finishing 4th, with Josh McKinlay finishing just behind in 5th.  Photographs of the event can be found on club members’ Facebook pages.

  • The club was saddened at the passing of Arthur Smith.   Arthur, who was a founding member of the modern club and very much-loved coach who was one of our longest serving coaches and was a permanent fixture at the track in all weathers looking after the girl’s middle-distance group until well into his eighties.  Arthur coached hundreds of athletes over his 50 years at the club and the very warm words that have been expressed by all the athletes, coaches and parents who knew Arthur.

UK Winter Long Throws Championships, Loughborough, Eng, Sat 01 Mar 2025

  • Congratulations to Dawn Russell, third in the women’s senior javelin with a throw of 41.96.

4J Studios scottishathletics National Indoor Age Group Championships, Emirates Arena, Sat 01 Mar 2025

  • In the U20M 800m a first for Josh Mungin with arun of 1:51.27 very close to the championship best (held at 1:51.11 and set in 1994).  Congratulations to Rosie Stein, bronze in the U13G 60m with a time of 8:55.

President Richard’s vote for photograph of the weekend goes to Sean Rafferty in the shot put, beautiful technique a PB and 5th place on the day. One for the photo album.

  • There were also PBs for Rosie Costello in both the 60m and the 200m, for Camilla Dixon in the 60m, Isabella Mason in the 200m and Jude Sangha in the shot put.
  • In the middle-distance events Kira Mitchell posted a PB on 2.36.56 in the 800m taking an impressive 9 seconds off her previous time. Kira finished 7th overall in a big field continuing her great form over the winter period.

  • With a mix of U17, U20 and Senior Road Runners all combined in a great club day out with our best placed team finishing 38th overall, congratulations to all who competed with personal bests on the way.
