Jemma Reekie made a successful trip to Sheffield last weekend, to compete in the English Indoor Championships. Jemma from Beith and a member of Kilbarchan Athletic Club, won the under 20 women’s 1500m in 4 minutes 36.03 seconds and also reached the final of the 800metres, finishing 5th in 2.16.64.
Kilbarchan Athletic Club Cross Country Championships were staged at Linwood last Sunday.
Donald Petrie who won the Men’s race and the Challenge Cup, covering the 6 miles in 35 minutes 59 secs to finish 200 metres ahead of Grant Sandilands with Robert Snodgrass 3rd
Sharon Hastie won the Ladies race in 40.36 and for the under 17 girls Laura Stark won 26.06 ahead of Rona Tytler with Holly Thompson 3rd; Leona Murray was 1st u15 ahead of Eilidh Gibson and Kim Crawford; Alisha Sivell won the under 13s with Rachel Muir 2nd and Louise Hastie 3rd and for the under 11s, the 1,2 3 was Gillian Finnigan, Mary Bruce, Iona Queen.
Cameron Corrigan won the under 15 boys from Kyle Irvine and Jack Patton led home the under 13 boys ahead of Lewis Hannigan and Fergal McCloskey. Oliver Patton was the under 11 boy’s winner ahead of Alexander Bassano with Ross Hastie 3rd.
