As a child or young person under 18 years, I have the right to :
- Be safe and protected
- Be listened to
- Be respected and treated fairly
- Be believed
- Ask for help
- Be coached by someone who has the right qualifications
As a young athlete I will respect the code of conduct and I will:
- treat others with the same respect and fairness that I wish to receive
- Keep myself safe
- Tell my coach if I am ill or injured
- inform my coach of any other coaching I am receiving
- show patience with and respect diversity in others
- Compete fairly and respect other athletes and officials
- Respect Club rules
- Listen to all instructions from my coach and officials
- Take care of equipment used or owned by the club
- Not use bad language or take part in inappropriate or illegal behaviour
- Not bully anyone or pressure them into doing things they do not want to, including online
- Anticipate and be responsible for my own needs including being organised, having the appropriate equipment and being on time
- notify a responsible adult if I have to go somewhere (why, where and when I will return)
- not respond if someone seeks private information, unrelated to athletics e.g. home / school life
- Not carry or consume alcohol or illegal substances
- Use safe transport or travel arrangements
- speak out immediately if anything makes me concerned or uncomfortable (telling parents / carers and /or the Club Welfare Officer) or if a club mate has suffered from misconduct by someone else.
- Report any accidental injury, distress, misunderstanding or misinterpretation to my parents/carers and/or the Club Welfare officer as soon as possible.
- I understand that if I do not follow this code of conduct my parent/carer will be informed and action can be taken by my Club
