On 16th July 2011 Kilbarchan AAC achieved national recognition with the news that they have obtained Scottish Athletics Clubmark. The Clubmark programme recognises clubs who meet national standards of practice and who provide a safe and effective structure for members.

Allison Simpson West Regional Development Manager, said,

“Scottish Athletics are delighted to recognise and commend the efforts of Kilbarchan AAC who have demonstrated their commitment to delivering an effective club structure. They have produced a comprehensive development plan which will provide a framework and focus in taking the club forward. The challenge now for the club is to bring the plan to life. My congratulations to the Clubmark working group John Rodger, Jim Greene, Mike Belch, Jason Pender and Jim Goudie. Also to the club management, coaches and officials within the club for their hard work and commitment over the years. Kilbarchan AAC truly is a well organised and proactive club.”

Kilbarchan AAC representative John Rodger said

“Much of the organisation, processes and procedures required of Clubmark were already in place within the club but the application allow us to identify where we needed to improve. The challenge for the future  is to implement our development plan which will be key to our success in the years to come”.

Kilbarchan AAC were presented with their award by Professor Frank W Dick at the recent Glasgowlife National Senior Championships held at Scostoun (pictured above).
