Press Release Tues 14 Feb 2017

Jemma Reekie continues her progress as one of Scotland’s emerging young athletes when she competed in the UK Indoor Trials in Sheffield last weekend. Jemma, from Beith and a member of Kilbarchan Athletic Club, finished 4th in the 1500 metres, time 4 minutes 22.74 seconds. A fine effort by Jemma, just 18 and the youngest in the race, against some of Britain’s best.

The Scottish under 20s Indoor Championships at the Emirates, produced some fine performances at the weekend. Shona Ross continues to improve, winning the Triple Jump, clearing a Personal Best of 11.73m, and there were Silver medals for Kerry MacAngus (800m), Ellie Fulton (Shot) and for Praise Olatoke in the Mens 200m. Ellie also finished 4th in the 60m Hurdles with Erin Campbell also reaching the final and finishing 7th.

In the under 15 boys competition, Jack Patton was 3rd in the 1500m, just ahead of Kilbarchan clubmate Lewis Hannigan.

This weekend, Kilbarchan Athletic Club Cross Country Championships are being staged at Linwood on Saturday.
