King George V playing fields in Renfrew, was the venue for the Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships last Saturday. There was a large entry from clubs from all over Scotland with Kilbarchan Athletic Club having a strong representation.
Their Senior Women did well in their 4K race, finishing 3rd team behind winners Central AC , their team including Jemma Reekie, Laura Stark, Elspeth Curran and Sarah Dempsey, with Jemma 6th overall and first under 20 athlete to finish. Kilbarchan had 5 under 20 girls in the top 11 finishers which bodes well for the future.
The Kilbarchan under 15 boys team won Gold, a good run by David McNair 3rd, supported by Jack Patton and Lewis Hannigan and their under 17 boys just missed the medals, finishing 4th, with Andrew MacAngus best placed in 10th place.
The Kilbarchan under 15 girls were Bronze medallists, their team including Alisha Sivell, Eilidh Gibson and Leona Murray with Alisha finishing 4th from over 100 finishers.
There were nearly 400 starters in the Men’s 4K race, with Euan Gillham best placed local athlete, in 16th place.
