Kilbarchan Athletic Club had a successful day at the Renfrewshire cross country relay Championships at Bellahouston Park last Sunday.

West District Ladies champions Kilbarchan, were clear winners of their event, the team of Christina Rankin, Elspeth Curran and Laura Stark covering the 12K distance in 46 minutes 11 seconds and the club showed good strength in depth with their B team of Sarah Dempsey, Sharon Hastie and Jennifer Rooney, also well to the fore and finishing in 3rd place.

The Kilbarchan under 13 girls team of Aurelia Tiffoney, Louise Hastie and Rachel Muir, was also impressive, with a winning time 31 minutes 52 seconds for the 7.5K distance and finishing around 400metres ahead.

The under 15 boys team of Lewis Barclay, Lewis Hannigan and Gavin MacKay, also had a good win, time 27 minutes 58 seconds.

The under 15 and under 17 girls races were both won by Giffnock North with Kilbarchan 3rd in both . The under 15 team included Laine Alemu, Leona Murray and Alisha Sivell and the under 17s Rona Tytler, Kim Crawford and Eve Gilchrist.

Giffnock North also won the under 17 boys race with the Kilbarchan trio of Cameron Corrigan, Cameron Wright and Craig Kennedy, 3rd.

Inverclyde AC won the Senior Men’s title with Kilbarchan quartet of Robert Quinn, Graham Evans, Conor Thomson and Ryan Waldron,  in 5th place.

This Saturday the National Cross Country Relays are at Cumbernauld.
