Gemma Rankin from Paisley, continued her recent good form when she won the Women’s 10K in Glasgow last Sunday. This is the biggest Womens 10K in Britain, an event that Gemma also won last year. Gemma finished ahead of over 1500 runners , her time 36 minutes 59 seconds.
Several fellow Kilbarchan Athletic members, competed at the Glasgow Milers meeting at Crownpoint Stadium in Glasgow, last Friday.. Jemma Reekie broke her own club under 20s 800metres, time 2.07.23 and Laura Stark broke a thirty-four year old club under 20 women’s 3000metres record, her time 9.47.75. Laura was out again on Sunday, this time on the hills , when she won the Saugh Hill Women’s race in Girvan, in a record time of 25.19.
Also on Sunday, Jennifer Rooney was first woman in the Milngavie 8.5 mile trail race, time 63 minutes 12 seconds and Euan Gillham was 2nd in the Vale of Leven 10K, time 30.55 which is a personal best for the distance and puts him 2nd in the current GB 10k rankings for under 20 age athletes.
