The Hawkins brothers from Elderslie were in outstanding form at the London Marathon on Sunday, in their quest for selection for the GB team for the Rio Olympics later in the year.
Callum already had the qualifying time and was favourite for selection and his top Briton finish, confirmed his place in the team, his time a personal best of 2 hours 10 minutes 52 seconds..
Derek also gained selection, finishing 14th and 3rd Brit, in a personal best time on 2.12.57.
Both athletes along with Shettleston Harrier Tsegai Tewelde will be on the plane to Rio.
A number of other Kilbarchan athletes were running at London, including Robin Scott, 3rd in the over 70s age group in 3.31.27 while in the Ladies race and Gemma Rankin finished in 2.46.34.
And at the other end of the age scale, in the associated mini marathon, Laura Stark had a fine run for 3rd place and leading the Scots girls to team victory in the under 17 girls event, her time 16 minutes 33 seconds.
Nearer home, the Scottish Primary Schools Cross Country Championships were staged at Kirkcaldy.
Because of the huge numbers of competitors, there were 2 races in each category and Aurelia Tiffoney (Craigholme School), looked to be prospect, winning one of the P7 races in 6 minutes 23 seconds with Rachel Muir (Newmains PS), Renfrewshire Schools winner, 7th in the other P7 race. time 6.33.
