Callum Hawkins , who is targetting selection for the British team for the marathon at the Rio Olympics later in the year continued his preparation by running in the Paris ½ marathon at the weekend. Callum from Elderslie, had a fine run to finish 10th and first European in the event, setting a personal best, his time 62 minutes 38 seconds also breaking his own Kilbarchan club record. 

Nearer home, the Scottish age groups Indoor Championships were staged at the Emirates in Glasgow last weekend.

Shona Ross from Elderslie, broke the Kilbarchan ladies Triple Jump record when she won the Scottish Indoors under 20s title with a leap measured at 11.33metres.

 Jemma Reekie from Beith, also from Kilbarchan Athletic Club, won the under 20s 1500metres, very close to her best with a time of 4.32.93 and Jemma was also 2nd in the 800metres, time 2.11.99.

Also a double medallist from the Kilbarchan club was Ellie Fulton who comes from Saltcoats. Ellie won the under 20s High Jump clearing 1.65m and was also 2nd in the Shot with a personal best of 10.58metres.

For the boys, David McNair was 2nd in the under 15s 800metres, time 2.06.28.
