There was a big entry for the Renfrewshire County Cross Country Championships at Tower Hill, Gourock last Saturday with a strong representation from Kilbarchan Athletic Club.

Commonwealth Marathon runner Derek Hawkins led  the Senior race from the start over a muddy 6 mile course, finishing a clear winner in 30 minutes 57 seconds with club mate Ewan McKerral in 3rd place, winning the under 20s award . In the Men’s team race, Kilbarchan were 2nd to Inverclyde, their team including Derek and Ewan, also Euan Trout, Thomas McDonald, Donald Petrie and Alan Craig. Donald also won the over 50s age category.

 

In the Ladies race, Christina Rankin also dominated to win in 21.04 and with good support from Sharon Hastie and Jennifer Rooney, Kilbarchan were 2nd in the team event, behind Giffnock North.

 

Other Kilbarchan individual winners included under 13 girls Alisha Sivell, under 13 boys Jack Patton, under 15 boys Cameron Wright and under 17 boys Sam McNair and other place medallists included

Lewis Hannigan under 13 boys 2nd, Josh Hendry under 17 boys 3rd, Cameron Corrigan under 15 boys 3rd, Oliver Patton under 11 boys 3rd.

 

Gold team medals for the Kilbarchan club included under 17 boys Sam McNair, Josh Hendry and James Toal; under 15 boys Cameron Wright, Cameron Corrigan and Craig Kennedy; under 13 boys Jack Patton, Lewis Hannigan, Cameron Hunter. Silver medallists were under 15 girls Leona Murray, Eilidh Gibson, Kim Crawford; under 17 girls Holly Thompson, Emma Johnstone, Emma Fulton.

Bronze included under 13 girls Alisha Sivell, Kimberley Gilchrist and Ola Zurakowska; under 11 girls Julia Daws, Gillian Finnigan and Charlotte Bannatyne; under 11 boys Oliver Patton, Calum Dymock, Ross Hastie.
