Two local girls featured in the Scottish team that finished 6th in the International Junior Trophy Hill Race in Bulgaria last weekend. The race was the equivalent of a European Championship and Scottish team officials were delighted with the performances of the team which included Emily Nicholson from Pitreavie AC who finished 16th in 20.59, and 2 Kilbarchan club members, Laura Stark from Kilmacolm, 18th in 21.12 and Rona Tytler from Brookfield 26th in 21.36. Turkey won the event and Scotland in 6th place, finished ahead of all the other Home countries, as well as the likes of Russia and France.
At home, Robin Scott won the David Cummings Trophy, the Kilbarchan club’s 7 mile Handicap Road Race, around the hilly roads behind Kilbarchan, starting and finishing at the Park gates. Robin finished well clear of Donald Petrie, with John Hannigan 3rd. Fastest scratch time was 45.20 by Donald Petrie.
There were several good performances at the Linwood Open Graded meeting at Linwood last week and Alisha Sivell, who a week earlier, had broken the Kilbarchan under 13 girls 1200 metres record, this time smashed the 1500m record, timed at 4.55.73.
