The Scottish Schools Track and Field Championships were completed at Grangemouth last weekend,
In the Girls over 17s category, Mia Shepherd (St Benedicts), won the Hammer competition, Andrew Costello (Castlehead HS), won the under 17 boys Hammer and Praise Olatoke (St Columbas School) won the under 17 boys Triple Jump.
For the under 17 girls, Rona Tytler (Gryffe HS) won the 1500m Steeplechase in a Championship Best Performance 5.35.18 and in the same age category, Ellie Fulton (St Matthews Academy), won the Javelin title.
In the under 14 girl’s age group, Kirsty Costello (Castlehead HS), added to the Hammer Gold she had won the previous week, by winning the Javelin competition. Bobby Crossan (Brannock HS), was also a Javelin winner, taking the under 17 boys title.
There were other medals won including 2 Silvers for Laura Stark (St Columbas School) in the under 17s 1500m and the 3000m and there was also Silver for Shona Ross in the over 17s Triple Jump.
In the under 14 girl’s competition, Silvers were won by Eilidh Gibson (St Columas School) in the 800m, Olivia Burns (St Columbas School) in the High Jump and there was also Silver for Leona Murray (Castlehead HS) for the 1500.
David McNair (Castlehead HS), won 2 Bronze medals in the under 14 boys events and there was also Bronze for Niamh Barclay (St Benedicts) in the over 17s Discus.
In the Scottish Mens League Division competition at Inverness, a good all round performance by Kilbarchan Athletic Club, saw them finish in 2nd place, behind Aberdeen AC.
Winners included Blair Crawford in the 200metres, time 22.13seconds and Remi Caudoux in the Javelin with a 61.26m throw. Blair was also 3rd in the 100m, also 3rd in the High Jump (1.80m).
There was a fine all round performance from Andrew Murphy, 2nd in the Shot (12.93m), 2nd in the sprint Hurdles (16.05s) as well as winning the B High Jump and also the B Discus events. Conor Henderson was 3rd in the 400m and in the 400m Hurdles and there were several other valuable contributions to this excellent result for the Club.
