Tour of Clydeside 2015, starts Mon 3 Aug 2015


The Challenge: 5 races over 5 nights comprising both road and trail running. Together they total 40km, with opportunities for fast times on flat courses, and more challenging trail routes in Dawsholm and Mugdock Parks.

Please note that if you want to enter the whole Tour of Clydeside you need to use this online form. The Entry Fee is £20 (or £30 if not affiliated to SAL) before 30 June 2015 and thereafter £25 (or £35 non-SAL) for entries up to 31 July 2015. NOTE THERE ARE NO LATE ENTRIES AND NO ENTRY TO THE SERIES OR INDIVIDUAL RACES ON EACH RACE DAY.

Entry fee: £20 (SAL members) and £30 (non-SAL) if entry before 30 June 2015; £25/£35 thereafter.

The races are held on five consecutive nights starting on 3rd August 2015

Kilbarchan Klassic 8k road race (Mon Aug 3) – Castle Semple Loch, Lochwinnoch PA12 4EA

Garscube Gallop 7k trail race (Tues Aug 4) – Dawsholm Park, Ilay Road, Glasgow G61 1QQ

Mugdock Meander 7k trail race (Wed Aug 5) – Mugdock Country Park, near Milngavie G62 8EL

Canal Canter 8k road race (Thurs Aug 6) – Whitecrook Street, Clydebank G81 1QF

Bella Belter 10k road race (Fri Aug 7) – Cartha Queens Park RFC, Pollok Country Park, Dumbreck Road, Glasgow G41 4SN

Further details on the location of each race and facilities can be found on the separate pages of EntryCentral. Information will be also be available on the Tour of Clydeside Facebook pages.

Each race is also an open event and thus not all runners will be participants in the Tour.

Start time: each race starts at 7.30pm with details on the course available from 7pm. Opportunities to warm up in off-road spaces are available at the start area for each of the races.

Race Number: your race number can be collected from 6.45pm at Castle Semple Park, Lochwinnoch prior to the start of the first race. This number MUST be retained for all races and worn on your top/vest. Please note that this may not correspond to the number allocated by EntryCentral so that you will be identifiable as a Tour entrant.

Apart from the Bella Belter there are no showers, toilets or changing facilities available.

Results: will be posted on our Facebook site and on Garscube Harriers website as soon as possible after each race, and copies will be posted at the start area of each subsequent night so that you can track your own accumulated performance and others around you.

Prizes:There are no prizes for the individual races except for the Bella Belter, but a wide range of prizes for the Tour, based on the accumulated positions in each of the 5 races. Presentation of the prizes, available across different age groups will be made on the Friday evening.

The Tour of Clydeside Races:

Kilbarchan Klassic 8k road race (Mon) : a fast, flat and traffic-free route along the former railway line from Lochwinnoch towards Kilbarchan. Tarmac pathway offer opportunities to set you up for a strong start to the Tour.

Garscube Gallop 7k trail race (Tues) – Dawsholm Park : held within this Glasgow park, the route is a couple of laps on mainly soft trails in the wooded surroundings. No technical sections, but some gentle climbs and descents.

Mugdock Meander 7k trail race (Wed) – Mugdock Country Park, Milngavie: start and finish by the Mugdock visitor’s centre. The route follows 2 scenic anti-clockwise laps past the WWII decoy stations and around Mugdock Loch.

Canal Canter 8k road race (Thurs) – Play Drome, Clydebank : an out and back race along the towpath of the Forth & Clyde canal with no major ascents. Traffic free and on tarmac/hardcore paths throughout.

Bella Belter 10k road race (Fri) – Pollok Country Park, Glasgow : a classic distance and race to finish the week. Two laps of the park and Dumbreck Rd forms a fast course. This traditionally provides an exciting finale to the Tour and attracts many entrants in its own right.
