The West District Track and Field Championships at Kilmarnock last weekend provided some fantastic successes for Kilbarchan Athetic Club, whose members remarkably won 19 Gold medals, no fewer than 36 medals in all .
For the men, Blair Crawford won the 100m and was third n the 200m, Sam Davies won the 800m. Jack Lochans was 2nd in the High Jump, clearing 2.00m and Andy Dawkins 2nd in the Shot, while Natalie Sharp won the ladies 1500m.
In the younger age groups, the outstanding performance came from 12 year old Kirsty Costello, who not only won the under 13s Javelin, but also competed in the under 15s Hammer which she won with a throw of 40.06metres , a British best performance for under 13 girls.
In the under 20s category, Mia Shepherd won the Hammer with a club record 40.15m throw and she also won the 100metres Hurdles. Jemma Reekie won the 800m and Sarah Dempsey the 1500m.
For the under 17s, Ellie Fulton won double Gold, winning the girls Javelin and Shot events while for the men, Andrew Costello won the Hammer, Bobby Crossan the Javelin and Alex Watters the 100m Hurdles.
For the under 15s, Eilidh Gibson won the girls 800m and Michael Simson won the 1500m while Cameron Stark won the Hammer and for the under 13s Alisha Sivell and Jack Patton won their 1500metres events.
