Donald Petrie, returning from long term injury, regained the Challenge Cup when he won the Kilbarchan Club Cross Country Championship, staged at Linwood last Sunday.

Donald who won previously in 2007, crossed the line ahead of early leader Alan Craig, winning time 29 minutes 42 seconds.

Jennifer Rooney won the Ladies race in 23.26, with Katie Hall winning the under 17 girls in 23.28, ahead of Emma Fulton. Rona Tytler was first home for the under 15 girls, time 13.05,with Kim Crawford 2nd and Craig Kennedy was the under 15 boys winner in 11.39.

Scottish Schools Champion Alisha Sivell won the under 13 girls race in 12.02, ahead of Leona Murray, with EilidhGibson 3rd and first home for the under 13 boys was Lewis Hannigan in 12.36.

Aurelia Tiffoney won the under 11 girls race, time 4.40, with Poppy Pitts 2nd  and Louise Hastie 3rd and Finlay Gray  was first home for the under 11 boys, time 4.34, ahead of Sam McDowall and Rueben McNeill. 


Further afield, Callum Hawkins set a Personal Best for the distance, competing in the Brighton 10K against some of Britain’s best, finishing 3rd in a fast 29 minutes 21 seconds.
