Kilbarchan athletes were spread far and wide last weekend, competing in various events.
Claire Gibson was in good form at Clydebank on Saturday, competing in the Dunky Wright 5K Road Race, winning the Ladies race in 17 minutes 5 seconds.
Commonwealth marathon athlete Derek Hawkins, travelled south to take part in the Reading ½ marathon, where, against a world class field, he finished 8th in 65 minutes 56 seconds.
And there were several young athletes, representing Scotland in the Schools International Cross Country competition near Dublin. In the Intermediate races, Laura Stark was 16th and Sam McNair 25th in their respective events. In the Junior races, Leona Murray was 21st in the Girls race and for the boys, Michael Simson was 14th, Andrew MacAngus 15th, Craig Kennedy 17th and Cameron Corrigan 20th. A great experience for these young athletes, competing against the best from Britain and Ireland.
Elsewhere, Euan Carrick won the Loch Katrine ½ marathon and several athletes competed in the various park runs, most notable Gavin McArdle winning at Pollok in a fast 15.19. Also notable, was John Kynaston, in the Hardmoors 55 mile race in Yorkshire, which he completed in the impressive time of 9 hours 35 minutes 40 seconds.
