Andrew Murphy was in fine form at the Scottish Indoor Combined Events Championships at the Emirates in Glasgow,last weekend. Andrew broke his own Kilbarchan club recordfor the Pole Vault with an impressive 4.51m clearance and his total points score of 4911points was also a club record. Andrew also recorded Personal bests in High Jump 1.88m, the 60 metres 7.42 seconds and the 1000m in 3.03.18 while his other results in the 7 event competition, were Long Jump 6.28m and Shot 12.83m.
Kilbarchan Athletic Club had several successes at the Scottish Junior Road Race Championships at Greenock last Sunday, with 4 individual medals and winning team medals in all 6 events.
Laura Stark won the under 17 girls title, finishing strongly to beat Victoria Park Glasgow’s Gillian Black, Laura’s time 17 minutes 14 seconds with Iona Miller having a fine run for 3rdplace, time 17.36. And with Rebecca Craig, the club won team Gold. The under 13 boys also won Team Gold with David McNair who won individual Silver, being well supported by Jack Patton and Niall McLean. The under 13 girls won Silver in their team event, with Eilidh Gibson individual Bronze medallist, backed up by Leona Murray and Alisha Sivell .. There were also Silver team medals for the under 15 boys, Craig Kennedy, Michael Simson and Andrew MacAngus and for the under 17 mens team of Euan Trout, Sam McNair and Aidan Comerford while the under 15 girls trio of Katie McGinn, Rona Tytler and Kim Crawford won team Bronze.
At the other end of the age spectrum, 70 year old Robin Scott, travelled to Spain to compete in the Barcelona Marathon, which he completed in the remarkable time of 3 hours 18minutes 16 seconds.
