The Scottish Indoor Track and Field Championships took place at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow last weekend. Andrew Murphy, representing Kilbarchan Athletic Club, had a busy and successful day, finishing 2nd in the Pole Vault, clearing 4.20metres and was also 2nd in the 60metres Hurdles (8.57s) and 3rd in the Shot (13.16m).

Also, last Sunday, the Kilbarchan club had a number of athletes at the Renfrewshire County Road Race Championships at Greenock’s Battery Park.  Commonwealth Marathon athlete Derek Hawkins was a good winner of the Men’s 5mile race, time 23minutes 42 seconds and Elspeth Curran was 2nd in the Ladies event to Kilmarnock’s Kara Tait but Elspeth still won the county title, her time 29.36.

Other County winners included Euan Trout in the under 17 Mens race time 15.34, with Conor Thomson 3rd and for the under 17 girls, Rebecca Craig led from the start to win in 19.24, closely followed by teammate Katie Hall.

In the under 15 boy’s race, Craig Kennedy and Cameron Corrigan were 2nd and 3rd and in the girls event, Rona Tytler was 2nd.  Jack Patton won the under 13 boys race wirh Cameron Hunter 3rd and for the girls, there was a 3rd place for Eilidh Gibson while Aurelia Tiffoney won the under 11 girls County title.

Team titles were won by the under 17 boys team of Euan Trout, Conon Thomson and Ewan McKerral, also by the under 17 girls trio of Rebecca Craig, Katie Hall and Emma Fulton. The under 13 boys also won Gold, that was Jack Patton, Cameron Hunter and Lewis Hannigan and Gold again for the under 11 girls team of Aurelia Tiffoney,  Louise Hastie and Poppy Pitts.
