At the Annual Dinner of Scottish Athletics in Glasgow last weekend, Kilbarchan Athletic Club were honoured by being presented with the award for top non track Club of the Year, which award recognised the quality of achievements of club athletes in Road and Cross Country events and also involvement in other activities including Hill and Ultra running. Club President Jim Goudie was pleased to accept the award, on behalf of the Club.
This weekend, athletes will be travelling to Liverpool for the UK Challenge cross country competiton, which will attract top athletes from all around the UK. Events will include selection races for the GB teams for the European Cross Country Championships next month.
There is also an International element and it is congratulations to Callum Hawkins, who will represent Scotland in the under 23s event and, also and also to Euan Gillham and Gavin McArdle who will compete in the under 20s race as part of the Scottish team.
Several other athletes will make the journey south to compete against the best in Britain and can only benefit from the experience.
