Around 1700 runners took part in the Paisley 10K last Sunday, won by Shettleston Harriers Tewolde Mengistaab in 30 minutes 52 seconds with best placed local runner Euan Gillham of Kilbarchan Athletic Club, 4th in 31.38. Kilbarchan Athletic Club, dominated most of the other awards including Gemma Rankin winning the Womens race in 35.25 and  the club winning both Mens and womens team awards. It was a very young Mens team including  Euan, along with Russell Mountford and Callum Matthews, all under 20 while for the women, Gemma was well backed up by Natalie Sharp and Maica Suarez.

In the 3K event, Sam McNair (Castlehead HS), won ahead of Andrew MacAngus (Gryffe HS) with Jake Scott (Castlehead HS), 3rd and for the girls, first home was Kerry MacAngus (Gryffe HS) with Leona Murray (Castlehead HS)  2nd and Alisha Sivell (Gryffe HS) 3rd.

Elsewhere, a few athletes  travelled to Bedford to compete in the English Championships.  Jemma Reekie,  Scottish under 17s 800m champion continued her fine form with an excellent 2nd place. In the under 15s age group,  Andrew Costello won Silver in the Hammer, with a club record throw of 51.83metres and Heather Fawcett also reached the final of the girls event, throwing 41.67m.

At the Home International Combined Events in Manchester, Andrew Murphy was in top form, finishing 3rd in the Decathlon, with a Kilbarchan club record total of 6440 points which included a Shot Putt 12.40m, Sprint Hurdles 15.71sec, Long Jump 6.20m.

And at Aberfoyle there were Scottish trials for the Home Internationa Hill Race Championships. Laura Stark, won the under 16s race in 19 minutes 38 seconds and will represent Scotland in Dublin while  Rona Tytler, who finished  4th in 21.31, is also hoping to be selected.
