The Scottish Track and Field Championships at Kilmarnock produced some good performances, despite poor weather conditions.
Tony Daffurn, who gets better all the time, improved on his last year’s 2nd place in the Triple Jump with a winning clearance of 15.54m a Personal best, also a Kilbarchan club best but wind assisted so not a formal record. Other Kilbarchan medallists included Jack Lochans who finished =2nd in the High Jump, clearing 2.00m; also Blair Crawford, Bronze medal winner in the 400m, time 50.19s.
There was also a Gold medal for Hazel Ross, Victoria Park Glasgow, who won the 100m Hurdles in 14.45seconds.
Elsewhere, Laura Stark competed in the Cademuir Hill Race, over 6K distance and including 274 metres climbing. 15 year old Laura was 2nd in the Ladies race, first under 17, time 33:06, which confirmed her overall win in the Scottish HILL runners Junior u17 Summer League competition.
This weekend, the Scottish age group Championships are being staged at Aberdeen.
