5 local young athletes were part of the Scottish team at the British Schools International at Cardiff last weekend.
Katie Turnbull was 3rd in the 1500metres Steeplechase, time 5 minutes 24.15 seconds, which is a Kilbarchan club record. Ewan McKerral was 4th in the boys steeplechase in 4.42.28; Jemma Reekie, who had the honour of being the Scottish team captain was 5th in the 800m, 2.13.67, Laura Stark was 7th in the 3000m in 10.24.38 and Kerry MacAngus 8th in the 1500m in 4.58.78.
There was also a Scottish team competing in the International Snowdon Hill Race in Wales at the weekend and winning the team event , with Kilbarchan’s hill running specialist Christina Rankin in 12th place and 3rd counter for the Scottish team which just pipped their English rivals. A tough event with Christina’s time 62minutes 24 seconds.
In other events, veteran Robert Quinn was in Barrow where he won the parkrun and more locally, Fraser Williams won the Eglinton parkrun while Elspeth Curran was 2nd lady in the Irvine 5mile roae race.
