Match 1 Results

Report by David Cunningham

What a mixture of emotions on a beautiful day for athletics at scenic Grangemouth.
JOY watching our athletes compete manfully against strong opposition.
SADNESS watching Craig pull up at the start line of the 800 with what we hope is a slight muscle twinge. Good luck for a really speedy recovery, Craig!
DISAPPPOINTMENT for the athletes who picked up late injuries and couldn’t make it to the match. Again, recover fast guys.
SURPRISE at the three athletes who said they would run then didn’t turn up, losing us buckets of points. Why would anyone do that?

Anyway, many highlights of a great day – Andrew Superman Murphy did 5 events and then was press ganged into a relay run as well. At last count he won 3 of those 5 events and scored 68 of Kilbarchan’s 275 points. Andrew Cunningham had an unaccustomedly busy day, doing 4 events and a relay, and Sam O’kane did all four throws.
New boys who performed very well were Shaun Tonner, Donnie MacLeod, Sam Davies, Jirka Prazan and Stephen Trainer. Excellent runs also by Blair Crawford and Callum Matthews. And last but not least, another great win in the high jump (2.05m) for Jack Lochans.

Kilbarchan recovered from 6th place at halfway to finish 3rd, so the title race is still on!!
