Scottish Athletics Indoor League 2013/14

Published by kilbarchan Web on

Many thanks to all the athletes, coaches and parents that supported Kilbarchans teams in the indoor track and field league this winter. u11, u13, u15, u17 and u20 athletes participated in three matches in December, January and February, with the top teams in each age group qualifying for a hotly anticipated final held on Sunday 16th March at the Commonwealth Stadium.

It is always a very busy league and more so this year with upwards of 500 athletes competing in each match, so lots of great competition and action.
Our age groups were up against strong teams in the three matches, but the good news is that the u11 girls, u20 women and u20 men made the final! Well done! The u11 girls battled hard but came away empty handed. The u20 women fared better and were awarded the bronze medal! u20 men, though severely depleted by injuries, did very well to win the bronze medal! Highlight was a clearance of 2.11m by Jack Lochans in the high jump – only 5cms short of the Commonwealth Games standard! We all wish Jack the best of luck in achieving the standard in competitions to come in the outdoor season.

There were also 4×200 relay championships at the indoor league final – many club athletes took part. A good number of our teams made the relay finals to great excitement, and a second bronze medal for the hardworking u20 women.

Lots of good performances and PBs for many athletes throughout the indoor league matches so congrats to all!

A special thank you to Janice Ross and Susan Devine who very capably and cheerfully looked after the girls teams and the u11s.
